MANY EDUCATION STUDY PROGRAMS IN TIMOR LESTE ENTHUSIASM TO APPLY FOR ACCREDITATION TO ACE/LAMDIK

ACE/LAMDIK has once again gained the trust of the Timor Leste Government to accredit 5 Education Study Programs spread across 4 Universities in Timor Leste. The five Education Study Programs are English Education (Bachelor) Instituto Superior Cristal (ISC), Primary Education (Bachelor) Instituto Católico Paraa Formação de Professores (ICFP), English Education (Bachelor) Instituto São João de Brito (ISJB), English Education (Bachelor) UNTAL, and Primary Education (Bachelor) UNTL.

The delegation from ACE led directly by the General Chairperson of LAMDIK Prof. Muchlas Samani together with the LAMDIK International Accreditation Team accompanied by the Indonesian Education and Culture Attaché for Timor Leste, Prof. Ikhfan Harris, was received directly by the ANAAA Leadership, as the National Accreditation Body of the Timor Leste Government. At the meeting, it was immediately agreed to sign an MoU between ACE/LAMDIK and ANAAA for the implementation of accreditation of several Education Study Programs in Timor Leste. At the meeting, it was agreed that the 5 Study Programs would request accreditation by ACE in 2024. Of course, the application, mechanism, process up to the stage of determining the ranking will still follow the provisions of ACE/LAMDIK, as conveyed by the General Chairperson of LAMDIK, Prof. Muchlas Samani.

The request for accreditation of the 5 Study Programs in the field of Education was conveyed by the President of the Board of ANAAA (Dr. Azevedo Marcal) who was accompanied by the Executive Director of ANAAA (Dr. Nilton D. Paiva Mau), along with his staff. Also present at the ACE socialization were 19 representatives of universities in Timor Leste. The collaboration between ACE and ANAAA, as emphasized by both parties, between ACE and ANAAA is a symbol of the dedication of both institutions to oversee the quality of cross-border higher education.

The accreditation process will begin with assistance in preparing the Self-Evaluation Report before submission and site visit. A number of University Leaders who attended the signing of the cooperation were very enthusiastic about this program. In the future, this program is expected not only to carry out accreditation, but both parties and all parties involved agree towards improving the quality of education at LPTK with international standards.
