Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia Launches LAM Kependidikan Coinciding with the 24th National Technology Awakening Day at Grand Inna Hotel Bali

The Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. M. Nasir, officially launched the implementation of LAM KEPENDIDIKAN on August 26, 2019, at Grand Inna Hotel Bali Beach. On this occasion, the Minister also launched three other Independent Accreditation Agencies, namely IABEE LAM in the field of engineering, LAMSAMA in the field of Mathematics and Science, and LAM EMBA in the field of Business Management Economics. This event coincided with the 24th National Technology Awakening Day (HARKITNAS) in 2019.

The Minister emphasized the importance of LAM in the era of Industry 4.0, which is oriented towards output and outcome-based approaches. It is hoped that these four LAMs will not only be recognized nationally but also serve as quality assurance references at the international level.

As LAM KEPENDIDIKAN, including other LAMs, it is expected to have distinctive characteristics in its instruments that are more aligned with their respective fields of expertise. As an LAM in the field of education, it is hoped that its implementation will involve users, such as quality school principals and students, not only as observers but also as contributors in the IAPS assessment components. This was emphasized by the Executive Board Prof. T. Basaruddin and the Director General of Institutional Affairs and Science and Technology of Higher Education, as well as the Director General of Learning and Student Affairs during the launch.

The launch, followed by a workshop on the preparation for the implementation of LAM KEPENDIDIKAN, resulted in the following agreements: (1) the need to expedite the complete AD ART manuscript and the legal entity application process to Kemenkumham RI, expected to be completed by 2019; (2) grand launching and socialization to all users of LAM KEPENDIDIKAN FKIP, IKIP, STKIP in December 2019; (3) transition period in 2020 and full implementation by 2021 at the earliest.

During the transition period, resource sharing with BAN PT and Kemristek Dikti will be utilized concerning the IAPS 9 standards instrument, assessors, and IT management system. During this transition, the LAM KEPENDIDIKAN Team is expected to complete the education-specific instruments, assessors, management information system, etc., for quality assurance of 1,578 LPTKs with 5,052 education programs.

The LAM KEPENDIDIKAN Team representing at the event included Muchlas Samani from Unesa Surabaya, Harun Joko Prayitno from FKIP UMS Surakarta, Ahman from ISPI/UPI Bandung, Aceng Hasani from FORKOM Dekan FKIP Untirta, and Lukman Nadjmudin from FKIP Universitas Tadolako Palu.

With the implementation of LAM KEPENDIDIKAN, the Director General of Institutional Affairs of Ristek Dikti, the Director General of Learning and Student Affairs of Ristek Dikti, the Executive Board of BAN PT, the Director of Penjamu, and the attending team hope that it will become a credible quality assurance agency that can improve the management and development quality of the education sector in this era of educational disruption.
