ANAAA Director Appreciates ACE International Accreditation Rankings for 2 Education Study Programs in Timor Leste

LAMDIK (Independent Higher Education Accreditation Institution) received an official visit from representatives of ANAAA (National Agency for Academic Availability and Accreditation) Timor Leste which took place on Monday (16/12/2024) at the LAMDIK Office in Surabaya. This visit is part of the accreditation process, namely the submission of international accreditation results that have been carried out by LAMDIK. The accreditation process covers two study programs at two higher education institutions in Timor Leste that have gone through evaluation and assessment.

This visit was attended by a number of LAMDIK representatives, including Prof. Muchlas, Chairperson of LAMDIK, and Dr. Nilton Diamantino Paiva Mau, who represented ANAAA. On that occasion, Prof. Muchlas as the General Chairperson of LAMDIK handed over two main documents as a result of the accreditation, namely the Accreditation Certificate and the Accreditation Report. These documents were received by Dr. Nilton Diamantino Paiva Mau, a representative from ANAAA. The accreditation process carried out by LAMDIK covers two study programs at two higher education institutions in Timor Leste. The study programs that were accredited were the Bachelor Elementary Education from the Instituto Católico para a Formação de Professores and the Bachelor English Language Department from the Institute Superior Cristal.

These two study programs went through a series of comprehensive evaluations involving various aspects, ranging from curriculum, teaching quality, facilities, to academic sustainability and lecturer development. As for the Bachelor English Language Department Study Program from the Institute Superior Cristal, it has the SK number 1878/SK/LAMDIK/Ak-INTL/S/XII/2024 with a validity period until December 13, 2027. Meanwhile, for the Bachelor Elementary Education Study Program from the Instituto Católico para a Formação de Professores, it has the SK number 1877/SK/LAMDIK/Ak-INTL/S/XII/2024 with a validity period until December 13, 2029.

In addition, in this meeting, Prof. Muchlas also conveyed a plan that there will be other study programs in Timor Leste that will follow the accreditation process through LAMDIK. This signifies LAMDIK’s commitment to supporting the improvement of the quality of higher education in Timor Leste through a broader and internationally standardized accreditation process. This accreditation process not only provides benefits for the two institutions that have been accredited, but also for the entire higher education system in Timor Leste. With accreditation, students and prospective students will be assured that the study program they choose meets high academic standards and can provide the best quality of education. International accreditation also opens up opportunities for students to access more job opportunities at the global level.

In closing, this visit is proof of LAMDIK and ANAAA’s commitment to continue improving the quality of higher education in Timor Leste, as well as strengthening cooperation between national and international accreditation institutions. In the future, LAMDIK hopes to carry out more accreditations and provide support for more higher education institutions in Timor Leste to achieve higher international standards, in order to improve the competitiveness of education at the global level.
