LAMDIK Prepares to Become an International Accreditation Agency
As part of its efforts to become an International Accreditation Agency (LAI), the Independent Accreditation Institute for Education (LAMDIK) held a focus group discussion (FGD) and coordination meeting for the development of the International Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in Tertiary Education (ISG-INQAAHE) document. This event took place from Tuesday to Thursday, August 20-22, 2024, at the Platinum Hotel in Surabaya. The event was officially opened by LAMDIK Chairman, Professor Muchlas Samani, and was attended by 37 FGD participants. The participants were then divided into six groups, each focusing on different standards according to ISG-INQAAHE requirements. It is noteworthy that LAMDIK has been a full member of INQAAHE since December 13, 2023, and is now preparing to become an LAI. Therefore, LAMDIK is currently compiling the necessary documents and other requirements for review by INQAAHE.

In its effort to enhance quality and solidify its position as an International Accreditation Agency (LAI), LAMDIK has undertaken a series of strategic activities, including an FGD and coordination meeting for the development of the ISG-INQAAHE document. This three-day event, held from Tuesday to Thursday, August 20-22, 2024, took place at the Platinum Hotel in Surabaya.
The event was officially inaugurated by LAMDIK Chairman, Professor Muchlas Samani, who, in his speech, emphasized the importance of preparing this document as a strategic step toward meeting international accreditation standards. Professor Muchlas highlighted that this initiative aligns with LAMDIK’s broader vision to not only fulfill national accreditation needs but also to establish itself as a global player in ensuring the quality of higher education.
A total of 37 participants attended the FGD, including academics, education practitioners, and accreditation experts. The participants were divided into six working groups, each tasked with focusing on specific standards in accordance with ISG-INQAAHE criteria and requirements. Each group was responsible for reviewing, discussing, and drafting relevant standard documents, aiming to produce a comprehensive set of guidelines that align with international accreditation frameworks.
As a full member of the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE) since December 13, 2023, LAMDIK has gained significant opportunities to expand its international network and adopt global best practices in higher education accreditation. Currently, LAMDIK is preparing various documents and other necessary requirements to be submitted for review by INQAAHE as part of its recognition process as an International Accreditation Agency.
During the FGD, participants worked intensively to ensure that each document drafted reflected LAMDIK’s commitment to enhancing the quality of higher education. The discussion sessions also featured expert presentations on the challenges and opportunities in implementing international standards within the Indonesian higher education context.
By organizing this event, LAMDIK has demonstrated its commitment to continuous growth and adaptation to global dynamics. The successful development of the ISG-INQAAHE document is expected to serve as a solid first step toward recognition as an LAI and to strengthen LAMDIK’s position as a credible accreditation agency at the international level.
